Objective:
The overall objective of the Project was to develop the sewer systems and wastewater treatment plants so that all wastewater is collected and treated according to the HELCOM by the year 2015. The Project was financed with loans provided by EBRD, NIB and EIB as well as grants from several donors including SIDA, NDEP, EBRD’s Special Shareholders Fund and John Nurminen Foundation. The total investments under the project amounted to EUR 104 million. The Project was focused on construction of a large sewage pumping station (URS-422) with the capacity of about 680,000 m3/d and modernization of the Northern Wastewater Treatment Plant (NWWTP) with the total capacity of 1,250,000 m3/day, including construction of a new unit for chemical removal of phosphorus.
Main activities:
› General coordination of all activities under the Project;
› Review and approval of the preliminary designs prepared by the other consultants and local designers;
› Review and approval of the Contractor’s detailed design;
› Elaboration of a procurement strategy and contract packaging;
› Development of all tender documents and procurement support;
› Verification of bills of quantities (schedules)/cost estimates for the whole design documentation for each contract;
› Acting as the FIDIC Engineer in all contracts;
› Arrangement of timely disbursement under the contracts.
